Visitors can rent a motorbike in Bangkok legally, and the document rule is the part that catches people out. You need an International Driving Permit with a motorcycle endorsement (Category A), or a Thai motorcycle licence. A car-only IDP does not cover a motorcycle in Thailand, and riding without the right class invalidates most travel insurance. Minimum age 21.
On deposits: NOIRR takes a refundable amount confirmed at booking, in cash or by card, and never holds your passport. A passport copy is checked at delivery and handed straight back. If a shop asks to keep the original, walk away.
